Students with Children

2015_0651_003_select_daniel and daughterIthaca is a safe and supportive environment for students with children.  With top-ranked public schools, excellent healthcare, and many parks, playgrounds, and child-friendly activities, children are embraced by the local community.  Cornell recognizes and supports the unique challenges that students with children face in achieving their higher education goals, and has a number of resources available to help.

Based on recommendations from the Students with Families Advisory Committee and the input of many students with children, we have outlined topics for you to consider as it pertains to being at Cornell with children.  Because each individual and family structure is unique, this list is certainly not exhaustive, but is a great place to start!  Of course, if you have additional information for us to include, please email janna.lamey@cornell.edu!

Our own Sarah Reyes, PhD student in Nutrition Sciences, provided this clip of “A Day in the Life of a PhD Mom” to explain how she manages being a student-parent and Mom.
